I meet clients in person in London and Gloucestershire, and online anywhere.

  • Too busy for this?

Busy is the reason to do it. In an hour, you find the one thing worth fixing first.

  • What's the catch?

None hidden. A fixed fee, a report you keep and no obligation to buy anything afterwards.

  • Not the one who decides?

Bring them along, or forward them an extract from a real report. It's written so a director can take it in quickly.

The office, not the engineers.

A blu-fish Electrical & Gas Engineers van
blu-fish Ltd, electrical and gas engineers in Gloucestershire. blu-fish.co.uk

A director running 400 to 500 jobs a month assumed growth meant hiring more engineers. One question changed his mind: if 200 new properties arrived tomorrow, what would break first? His answer came straight back. Not the engineers. The admin. 11 weeks after a 1-day setup, he was building his own business tools.

You'll be speaking to me

I'm Matthew Thistle, AI consultant. My job is to find where AI can save your business money, put a real number on it, and get your team using it properly.

AI is my full-time work: I bring it to financial services in London, where I help build enterprise knowledge graphs, and to businesses like yours.

One of the systems I've built is a document review pipeline. Reviewing a document by hand took about 30 minutes; the pipeline took about 11 seconds, and reviewed all 200 of them in about 40 minutes. Each was scored against the criteria with 2 pages of written feedback, at 96% agreement with expert human reviewers. That's about 100 hours of work saved, worth about £1,750 ($2,330) a batch in reviewer time. I've since turned it into a working software-as-a-service (SaaS) product.

I build as well as advise: AI that searches and answers from a firm's own docs, and teams of AI agents running in the cloud, each with its own role.

In my diagnostics so far, the estimated savings have ranged from around £8K ($11K) to more than £27K ($36K) a year, each worked from the firm's figures.

The bigger change is harder to add up: jobs that took 40 or 50 minutes, done in 2, over and over, across the business. It's how a growing firm takes on more work without adding office staff.

I'm an Aussie with a science degree from the University of Adelaide and a Diploma of Applied Data Science from Columbia University and Emeritus.

Long before ChatGPT, I made short films in Australia, including a documentary that opened The Big Issue Film Festival, and ran live events in Adelaide that grew from 100 people to more than 500 in under a year, with sponsors and a smart drinks line of my own. I've sold for the BBC and Redwood Publishing in London, taught film and video at New Mexico State University, and spent 15 years in the Gulf, 8 of them running technical training at Aramco. Teaching runs through all of it, which is why I care how things land with people, and not only whether they work.

On the call I'll explain every term as we go. I learned the value of checks the hard way: an AI mistake once travelled through 4 linked documents before a final check caught it. Nothing I set up acts without a human checking it first, and I'll tell you when the honest answer is that you don't need AI here.

"Thanks for getting me started on the journey. I wouldn't be into it without you."
